Frequently asked questions
Below are some commonly-asked questions. If you have one that isn't answered here, please reach out!
How will I know if you’re a good fit?
Finding the right counsellor can be an overwhelming process, and sometimes it takes a while to find the right fit. Because of this, I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation. This gives us a chance to get to know each other, talk about your hopes for counselling, and create space for questions about my work and approach.
I’m looking for help with something that isn’t on your list of specializations. Can I still see you for counselling?
It depends! While my work is not strictly limited to the specializations listed here, a free 20-minute phone consultation can help both of us decide whether I may be able to support you with your goals. If not, I'll do my best to recommend another therapist who may be a better fit.
I’ve never been to therapy before. What can I expect on my first visit?
At your first appointment, you can expect to enter a calm space. We’ll speak briefly about rights, responsibilities, and confidentiality before moving to your goals. Some folks are eager to start talking about what brought them to therapy, while others need some time and space before opening up. My approach is to meet you where you’re at and move together from there.
I’m not able to attend in person. Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes, I offer virtual sessions. These can be booked both online or via email: info@andreawallcounselling.com
Something came up and I’m no longer able to attend my counselling session. Can I reschedule?
Counselling sessions can be rescheduled without any fee if done a minimum of 48 hours in advance. If 24-48 hours notice is given, 50% of the session fee will be charged, and if less than 24 hours of notice is given, the full fee will be charged.
Do you provide direct billing?
I can provide direct billing to insurance companies that are connected to TELUS Health e-Claims. These include Manlife, CINUP, and RWAM. I am also registered with the First Nations Health Authority and AgSafe BC. For a full list of insurers that I can bill to directly, please contact me.
